With significant operations throughout Canada and the United States, we are seeking an experienced and versatile Human Resources Generalist to oversee and streamline our HR operations across both countries. This role is pivotal in supporting our diverse workforce, ensuring compliance with local employment laws, and implementing HR strategies that align with our company's vision and values. 


What you will do


  • HR Compliance: Ensure full compliance with employment laws and regulations in both the United States and Canada. Keep abreast of legal updates and implement necessary changes to policies and practices. 
  • Policy Development: Develop and revise HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and fairness across all North American operations. 
  • Recruitment and Staffing: Lead recruitment efforts to attract top talent, including job posting, screening, interviewing, and executing hiring processes. Manage onboarding and orientation programs for new employees to foster a positive introduction to the company culture. 
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a key point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, mediating disputes and facilitating resolution in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. 
  • Performance Management: Implement and oversee performance review processes, providing support to managers and employees in setting goals, feedback, and professional development plans. 
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and develop initiatives for professional growth and skill development across the workforce. 
  • Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits programs. 
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, promoting a workplace that values and respects differences.

Process Improvement: Involves the business practice of identifying, analyzing, and improving existing processes to optimize performance. 


What you bring to the Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. 
  • Professional HR Certification required 
  • Minimum 3 years of human resources experience, with a strong background in managing HR operations across both Canada and the US, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting 
  • Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and practices in both Canada and the U.S.  
  • Multi-site experience 
  • Experience within a unionized environment is an asset 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to manage and resolve conflicts, engage employees and build strong relationships 
  • Ability to analyze HR data and metrics to make informed decisions and improve HR practices 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll practices is an asset 
  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset 

 

Desirable: 

  • A Masters Degree preferred
